Your not dumb! Stop berating yourself! We should be able to pack things in our suitcase and find them there when we get to the other side of our journey. It's just sad in a way that we are almost EXPECTING staff in airport baggage, to go through our luggage and steal things. THAT should NEVER be a mentally acceptable thought pattern. Sadly, it is the way we live and thank you again for reminding or even telling us to be careful not to store valuable items in our check in luggage. Are we just relying on suitcase that lock and not putting padlocks on also? Let me know people.

I'm heading to Cancun soon and I've been practical about what I'm bringing. I've opted for affordable items and costume jewelry, leaving my valuable possessions at home. It's a hard-learned lesson Naz, but I've come to realize that just because I wouldn't steal, doesn't mean others won't. Their actions are their own karma, not yours. Hopefully you don't let them ruin your vacation. Bahamas is also on my bucket list.

My Apple Watch was “missing” thru customs at the Cancun airport 😭😭😭 the location of it stayed there (even updated) by the time I got to Houston it was too late.

Naz, dont be so hard on yourself! You have never traveled outside the US. Rule of thumb: if you travel to south or central America DONT bring anything of value. Airports are not the only spots for theft. Hotels, streets, restaurants etc. Don’t trust anyone. Stay within popular tourist areas and be careful when exploring locally. Try not to call attention to yourself that will show your monetary status. Even in some south/central Americans country you should keep your cellphone in your bag especially if you are on the streets. They will swipe it in seconds Living in US we take for granted the security measures that are in place. Congratulations, you experienced the not so fun parts of traveling to a second/third world country. It happens to all of us one way or another.

Tip of the day. I travel with fakes jewelry and bags when you travel international. I would be upset as well.

hi naz !! my best friend and I were the girls that came up to you and mel before dinner at the resort in Cancun. We also got money and stuff stolen from us, but from the actual resort itself :( Were thinking from housekeeping as they came in multiple times when we had the dnd sign up🤦🏻‍♀️ very irritating but a beautiful trip overall. It was amazing to get to meet you guys :)
